Good Morning Members,

Hopefully by this coming weekend early summer temperatures will arrive. The last two weeks have been very cool and windy with below average temperatures. Those temps need to move on so we can enjoy the late Spring season. However, it looks like Mother Nature will allow these temps to hold on for a few more days.

This week's activities are many if the weather cooperates. This evening Week 3 of Spring Men's League will take place. The 1st tee is reserved from 4PM to 5:45PM. There is a little less then a month to the banquet. Schedule your matches wisely.

Juniors are Restricted after 3:30PM.

Three days remain for qualifying for the SGM CUP. 6 teams are left to qualify. I hope those 6 are planning on qualifying this afternoon as the weather does not look good Wednesday or Thursday.

Our Ladies group is scheduled to play their opening scramble on Wednesday Night . If you haven't signed up yet please email Stan before 5PM tonight. Some ladies have already let me know from last week's postponement. Shotgun start at 5PM.

Our First One day Member Guest is Scheduled for Thursday May 14th @1PM. Lunch will be served before from 12PM to 12:45PM. Dinner will follow. Currently the forecast is not favorable. A decision on the event will be made at 9AM Thursday morning.

The Saturday Men's Event is a Best Ball of 2. Sign up deadline is Thursday at 5PM. Please use the link that was sent last Friday to register. Entry is $10 per/player Tee off is from 7:30AM to 9AM.

The Member portal is up and live. Please take a minute to check it out and remember all registration for events is located on the portal which the proper link. Remember, Golf Genius is for SCORING ONLY not to Register for events.

The First Major on the Men's Tournament schedule is coming up May 23rd & 24th with the playing of the Spring Member Member. Registration is Open.

Lastly. this is my weekly reminder about course care. It doesn't take very long for a player to fix a ball mark on the green or a divot in the fairway. Please understand that the first thing a golfer should do is look for their ball mark has they enter the green and replace the divot immediately following your shot. Please use the seed and sand provided on the carts or the sand bottles by the golf shop for our walkers. Our maintenance staff deserves your help as the golf course is in perfect condition. Playing conditions have never been better! Thanks to Chris, Matt, Gary, Scott, Ian and Joe for all their hard work.

Until Next Week

Grounds Update

 Course Maintenance & Grounds Update

From Pat Macari - Grounds Chair

April/May

  • Tee Box 4/6 We are working on a plan to redesign and upgrade the existing tee box.

  • We plan to Laser Level the tops and replace the Sod with new turf. Plans are drawn so the BOG can review and decide on new steps.

  • Fill, Grade and Seed the slope from the 9th green to the parking lot, plant 4-6 more arborvitae to help protect the cars parked in the lower lot.

  • Replaced the fence behind the new driving range, we are looking at 8-10 foot tall with a tarp cover to protect golfers on the range from any errant balls from the 8th tee box.

  • Bury the Blue Drain pipe next to the rose bush bed

  • Fairway Aeration pulling plugs and dragging chain fence to breakup plugs (once ground has a dry period)

  • Aeration and over-seeding of grassless dirt areas around the course

  • Greens will continue to be rolled and mowed as the turf continues to grow eliminating the exposed sand and creating that great base we now have! Speed will gradually increase over the next few weeks.

  • Research and repair some wet underground areas example: (right side of 7th fairway/rough by last tree)

  • Rough Mowed low land area off 7th Tee Box
