New Director Hired It is with great pleasure that we announce the hiring of Steven Stegman as the Suffield Country Club Pool Director for 2008. Steve has worked as the Aquatics Director for the Town of Coventry for the past three years. Prior to this Steve was the Pool Director for the Town of Windsor Locks Parks and Rec. Department. He teaches Mathematics at Coventry High School during the school year. We are looking forward to another successful year for the swim team as well as some new and exciting events at the pool. We are finishing the touchs on replacing the fence around the pool as well as ordering new furniture for your summer comfort. In addition we are planning many new and fun activities and events we hope you enjoy. Summer 2008 Pool Information Grab your calendars and print this out. There are a lot of changes for the 2008 season at the pool. So here we go. Pool Hours The pool will open for pre-summer hours starting on Saturday May 24th. On May 24th, 25th and 26th (Memorial Day) the pool will be open from 10:00am to 7:00pm. From Tuesday May 27th to Sunday June 22nd the pool will be open on week days from 3:00pm to 7:00pm, Saturdays 10:00am to 7:00pm and on Sundays 12:00pm to 7:00pm. The pool will open full time on Monday June 23rd. The beginning of the summer will be Monday June 23rd to Saturday July 26th. This will take place from 10 of the hour until the hour. This will be a time to give the children a break and the adults (18 and over) time to relax from watching your children or give you a chance to enjoy the pool without the children in it. The pool hours for Monday August 25th through Friday August 29th will be from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. The pool will be open for Labor Day weekend Saturday August 30th to Monday September 1st from 10:00am to 7:00pm. Swim Team The Swim Team will start its practices on Monday June 23rd. Juniors will practice from 9:00am to 10:00am and seniors will practice from 10:00am to 11:00am. They will practice every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Again, there will not be practice on Tuesdays or Thursdays in preparation for the swim meets later in the day, and they will be allowed to be at the pool all day if they should so choose. Sign-ups for the Swim Team will be Friday May 23rd from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and Saturday May 24th from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the pool. The cost for Swim Team Registration will be $10 a swimmer and $25 for a family of 3 or more. Here is the schedule for the 2008 Swim Team; All swim meets start at 4:00pm. There will be 4 sessions of swim lessons this year. They will be Monday through Friday for two weeks. Session A will run from Monday June 30th to Friday July 11th. Session B will run from Monday July 14th to Friday July 25th. Session C will run from Monday July 28th to Friday August 8th. Session D will run from Monday August 11th to Friday August 22nd. The first sign-ups for Swim Lessons will be on Friday June 20th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and Saturday June 21st from 10:00am to 12:00pm. If you know what level you will be signing up for then there is no need for you to bring a bathing suit and towel. If you need to be tested to be properly placed then please bring a towel and bathing suit to the sign-ups. You will only be allowed to sign-up a student for one session at a time. The second sign-ups will be on Friday July 11th from 1:00pm to 3:00pm and Saturday July 12th from 10:00am to 12:00pm (these are just after session A ends). The third sign-ups will be on Friday July 25th from 1:00pm to 3:00pm and Saturday July 26th from 10:00am to 12:00pm (these are just after session B ends). The fourth sign-ups will be on Friday August 8th from 1:00pm to 3:00pm and Saturday August 9th from 10:00am to 12:00pm (these are just after session C ends). The cost for swim lessons this year will be $25.00 per session per student for all levels except for the Parent-Toddler which will be $30.00 per session per Parent and Toddler. Talk to a life guard and reserve your date now before they all fill-up. The cost for rental is $40 an hour. This includes the fees for the 2 lifeguards and the rental.
