| In maintaining the tradition of the last newsletter of the year, I will attempt to summarize the major events of the year and to give credit to those who have contributed to what has been a positive year.
The year started with the addition of Daly Family as the concessionaire taking over in January and culminating with an extension of their contract into 2007. During the course of the year, the Daly's introduced the Members to their immediate and extended family. During their initial year, the Daly's adapted from their prior business experience as hotel restaurateurs and banquet facilitators to the unique world of country club dining. The Daly's hosted the traditional events that the Membership has become accustomed to seeing over the years, like the golf one and multiple day Member-Guests outings and the Four Town Tennis Tournament Banquet. In addition the Daly's introduced the Members and their guests to some very enjoyable evenings of entertainment including comedians, magicians and impersonators. Overall, I would judge their transition as both a social and business success.
At the start of the year, the Board of Governors and the Finance Committee reduced the Club's 2006 operating budgets to conform to the anticipated levels of membership and the resulting impact on revenues. In many meetings starting in the early spring, the various Committee Chairs and more importantly the staff of the Club made reductions to their respective operating budgets. The changes that were made were primarily in reduced staffing, which placed an additional burden on the remaining staff having to compensate for the decreased personnel coverage. On behalf of the Club, I would like to thank Stan McLennan, Tom Watroba, Judy Campbell and Kelly Paterson for their sacrifices during 2006 and for the fine year in all their respective areas of operations.
I would like to acknowledge the efforts of Andy Brydges and the Club's staff in all areas for the efforts this year in starting the Suffield Sports Academy. Despite the rainy week, the Academy was a success and the plan is to continue the program in 2007. Please look for details during the winter and early spring so that you can plan to have your child or children participate next year.
As I have mentioned during the course of the year, the Club was very fortunate to welcome 43 new families as members at the Club. Of the 43 new families, 35 were from Suffield! This indicates a strong support from our members in building positive connections with prospective members. In 2007, we will need to continue the trend of adding more members and we will again call on our existing members to support that effort.
As we approach the holiday season in the last quarter of the year, please consider utilizing the Club for your company or private holiday party or business meeting. Please contact Christine Daly to set reserve your date and time.
In summary, the Club should be proud of the many accomplishments this year and I am looking forward to another positive year in 2007. Enjoy the holidays and look for your Membership packages in December for the next year.

| The ladies league ended with a great turnout for our last scramble and banquet. We welcomed all ladies in the club and I would like to thank you all for coming. We hope you can join us next season. Thanks to all the league members who supported the league all season and we hope to see everyone over the winter at some point. Some announcements, next spring we will see a different format once again for the league with A.M. and P.M. play. Also, I would like to welcome Jane Blake as our new treasurer and social representative to work with Christine Daly on the social events.
The sitting room in the ladies locker room area has had a little bit of a makeover. We plan on working on it this winter also. Thanks, Donna Szwed for your decorating input!
We would like to have this room used more socially. We had a great time at our closing banquet utilizing it for cocktail/hor'deurve hour. Last but not least we would like to thank The Daly's for their help and organization with our functions this year. Everything was delicious! Anyone with any suggestions or questions please do not hesitate. Have a great fall and winter.

Fall is a special time at SCC. The air is crisp and clean, the grounds are lush and green, and the kaleidoscope of colors will take your breath away. Whether you are playing a round of golf or simply relaxing on the patio, it is hard not to appreciate such a beautiful landscape. Please continue to support your club and take in the sights and sounds of autumn at SCC.
The Daly's are planning several fall events, including a second Comedy night on Friday, October 13th. The first Comedy night was a huge hit and we are sure this event will be even better. The cost is $45/person (includes taxes and gratuity) and *** will count toward your October minimum.*** Please make your reservations in advance for what is sure to be a wonderful combination of wonderful food and great laughs.
Please remember that all members - Swim, Golf, Tennis and Social continue to be responsible for the $50 monthly dining minimum through November. You may continue to choose to dine in the main dining room, the Pub room, or the outside patio as long as you order from the dinner menu with a reservation. Check the Website, future newsletters and the Club bulletin boards for upcoming events.
Feedback regarding our vastly improved food and beverage operations continues to be overwhelmingly positive. The House Committee continues to work with Christine and Cameron Daly to provide the best possible dining and social experience for all members, and that effort is greatly enhanced by members sharing both positive experiences and constructive views on areas of improvement. Please feel free to contact Chris Beaulieu, Bob Shea or any other Board member with questions or comments. We really want to hear from you.
Thank you

* Although the summer is over, there are still a couple months of tennis left. One thing to note, however, is that we no longer have regular maintenance taking place. This means that is very important that you leave the courts and clubhouse in good shape when you leave. For example, please sweep the courts and clean the lines. Please clean up after yourself in and around the clubhouse. Thanks for your help.
* Thank you to all - staff, new members, old members, junior players - for a great season. Enjoy the winter and see you next year!
